Sigmund Pretzel Shop

My sister just got into town so we immediately went snack hunting. A new friend recommended a soft pretzel place in the East Village – well, don’t have to pull my leg there. We head over and walk in to see a buffet of dark brown, knotted delights. Garlic and parsley, bacon and scallion, cinnamon raisin, sesame, salted, poppy, and plenty more. We opted to test two which they fortunately put into a steamy oven to warm up – garlic and parsley (perfectly garlicky and not overwhelming) and the feta and olive (also good, but we both thought the feta wasn’t the best flavor to combine with pretzel dough). The dough – piping hot, glistening, pillowy, and moist. Each came with a dip so we sampled their dijon mustard (deliciously spicy – a major flavor boom) and herbed goat cheese. Other options included Nutella, peanut butter, butter, raspberry cream cheese… goodness gracious.
